Have been varied at different times. Singing & Writing poetry has been her all times favourite. She started performing at musical shows since three years of age along with her father & uncle , who are both singers of great repute.

She aims for the stars after completing her education. She intends taking up a social cause closest to her heart. She is a movie Buff and would love to join the galaxy if a good offer comes.

1. The only Indian in USA to have been selected at state level for the National opus Honour choir.

2. Extensive charity work back in India & USA a. Joined the CAF & CII in their literacy programme and is their ambassadors.

b. Member of the support group for the thalassaemic children in U.P., India.

c. Participated in the Adult education awareness program with the NGO's in the peripheral areas of Bareilly.

d. Joined the Indian Govt. sponsored Polio Eradication Programme as a volunteer.

Born on 18th July 1982 to the family of Capt Dr Ashok Chopra and Dr Madhu Chopra, this first-born girl child of a large extended family was brought up like a flower, in the warmth and love of her grandparents, aunts & uncles. Soon, Priyanka’s twinkling eyes and fascinating smile transformed the life of every one around her.Priyanka had a very varied upbringing . Being member of an Army family, she moved from Leh-Ladakh in the north to Kerala in the south, from Bombay in the west to Jamshedpur in the East . She imbibed the ethos of the multicultural Indian society and discipline of a jawan in her personality.She started her Education from La Martiniere Girls College in Lucknow as a resident student, a short stay at Maria Goretti College in Bareilly prepared her for further studies in the US. Having completed class 10th from Boston, USA, she decided to become a software engineer or a criminal psychologist. However, destiny had something else in store for her. It all started with the Femina Miss India Contest, which she won with aplomb. She then represented India for the Miss World title in 2000 and came back with top honours.

Family

Father-Dr. Ashok Chopra is a doctor; he retired from the Army. He was a medical administrator at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai until some time ago, but he gave it up because he wanted to go back to surgery. He is a surgeon now. Mother-Dr. Madhu Chopra-a gynocologist who practices at Kasturi Polyclinic, Andheri. Brother-Sidharth Chopra (Younger) Paternal Grandmother-Mrs Champa Wati Chopra and Late Sh. Kasturi Lal Chopra. Maternal Grandmother-Mrs Jyotsana Akhauri and Dr.Akhauri.

She won Miss India World and later Miss World in 2000 (the same year that Lara Dutta, who is also from India, won Miss Universe and Dia Mirza won Miss Asia Pacific).When she won the Miss World crown, she became the fifth Indian woman to win the the title in just a span of seven years. India's Yukta Mookhey won the same national and international titles in the previous year.Beauty pageants were banned in her conservative home state Uttar Pradesh, the year she won the title, and she received death threats as a result.

Acting Career

After winning the Miss World title, Priyanka became an actress. She first acted in a Tamil film Thamizhan (2002) and since then has acted in many Bollywood films. Her first Hindi film was the big budget The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003) which was a flop. She became more known from her next film Andaaz (2003) which was a hit, for which she won her first Filmfare Award.She then had some flops until Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) which was her second hit. She then played a seductress in Aitraaz (2004). Her performance acclaimed many rave reviews and the film was her third box office success. She also did a world-tour with top stars (Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta and Arjun Rampal), the same year, which was a huge international success.In 2005, she had many releases, though most did moderately at the box office such as Waqt: The Race Against Time and Bluffmaster.
